The workplace has been transitioning to a hybrid model for more than a decade. In this model, work is completed outside of the traditional office setting and possibly even outside of a standard workday schedule
Fremont, CA: Young workers are looking for employers who will allow them to work where — and even when — they want, as long as they meet business obligations. This, together with a confluence of recent events, is hastening the shift toward non-conventional working models.
Faced with this new reality, businesses will need to rethink what 'work,' and 'the office' entail. They will also need to consider enabling their employees to be as productive as possible regardless of where they work. This not only benefits the current employee base, which has come to expect the ability to be productive outside of a traditional workplace and schedule, but it also creates a more resilient, work-from-anywhere model for the future.

• The connected enterprise enables the hybrid workplace model
A path out of the pandemic entails planning strategically and tactically for the future workplace. For example, most businesses will not have deskbound employees who sit in an office five days a week. Instead, workers who remain remote for most of the time, work a flexible schedule, and may strategically use smaller workplace locations such as a coworking office are more likely.
• Optimizing Application Availability and Performance with the Connected Enterprise Model
This approach comprises building blocks that work together to provide reliable application availability and connectivity to critical employees and endpoint resources. Each layer builds on the previous one to improve performance, reduce complexity, and provide flexibility.
IT executives are approaching the connected enterprise in stages
The first step is to assess and decide what to do with any 'improvised' solutions put in place to enable a pandemic-induced mass work-from-home model.
The second step is to plan and implement a forward-thinking connected enterprise infrastructure that provides technology tools for seamless communication with employees, customers, and trading partners, both inside and outside the organization. Finally, IT executives must focus on the performance and security of applications, networks, and connections.
The post-pandemic world will necessitate a well-thought-out IT architecture that improves employee connectivity and security, allowing them to work from virtually anywhere.
